Under the theme “Intelligent Connectivity for Smart World” the vision of the ICC2022 was to discuss important future communication issues, share ideas and information, and accelerate innovation. The REINDEER team was strongly represented during the conference with 5 partners (KU Leuven, TU Graz, LIU, ULUND, EAB), >5 papers on results of REINDEER and related work, 1 co-organized workshop, and taking responsibilities in the (TPC) Technical Program Committee and session chairing. They discussed the progress on the REINDEER project in regard to wireless power transfer and MIMO processing opportunities.

Tutorial lecture TU Graz "Array Signal Processing"

The scope addressed in the course is line-spectral estimation using an array of sensors. Line spectral estimation is a fundamental task that is encountered in many scientific and technical disciplines. Examples include direction of arrival estimation using sensor arrays, bearing and range estimation in synthetic aperture radar, channel estimation in wireless communications, monitoring of seismic activity, and simulation of atomic systems in molecular dynamics. The course aimed at initiating the attendees into the most relevant and widely used techniques for line spectral estimation, such as beamforming, MUSIC, ESPRIT, maximum-likelihood estimation, and variational mean field.

The Workshop consisted of two sessions. The first one provided information about the SNS proposal, the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), as produced by NetworldEurope and key candidate areas that could be considered for the first Work Programme. The second session included a panel discussion with key stakeholders. They provided their views about challenges and opportunities under the SNS Partnership. The panel served as an open and interactive forum for discussion with the participants. Liesbet Van der Perre (KU Leuven) – REINDEER’s Technology Leader – participated in this session.

Technikon's financial webinar for H2020 projects

In this webinar, the TECHNIKON/Austria, gave an introduction to financial rules of the Horizon 2020 programme. This webinar provided guidance for the day-to-day bookkeeping as well as the periodic and financial reports of our H2020 projects REINDEER, REALHOLO, EXFILES and MGOV4EU. TECHNIKON as the coordinator, gave an overview of the following topics: Payment overview , Person Months (PMs) and time records, Interim Management Reporting & Deliverables , Reporting to the Commission and Project costs.

REINDEER's 6G vision, technical enablers and envisioned challenges

The webinar allowed to assess for the first time the various industry views towards a 6G vision for Europe and detailed the technologies potentially underpining the vision. These were presented by the nine new Smart Connectivity beyond 5G projects from the 5G Public Private partnership (5G-PPP). These projects mostly started in January 2021 and are addressing key advances beyond 5G towards 6G.
